Hello all, I added some pictures from my dive on the U853. On our last trip we were visited by two humpback whales. The video is also posted, it may take a few minutes to load but it will be worth it. The U853 was sunk in battle in May 1945 at the end of WWII. Prior to it's sinking it had torpedoed the collier SS Black Point while it was traveling to Boston. You may read more about this story at http://www.desausa.org/de_photo_library/battle_of_point_judith.htm

Yesterday, Wednesday July 9th I traveled up to a Boy Scout camp in New Hartford Ct. We had 5 scouts signed up for a discover scuba class. I can't remember the last time I had this much fun. After a brief waiting period caused by thunder storms in the area, we were able to get into the water. As it is with most individuals using scuba for the first time, they were a bit unsure about breathing from the regulator while under water. Once they realised how easy it was, the fun began. For the first time in their lives they could see fish swimming right up close to them. And the lake we were in has a faid amount of fresh water muscles which the started to collect off the bottom. Time went by quickly, and as much as they did not want to (neither did I ) we had to stop. It is pretty cool knowing that soon they will be taking their open water course and learning to dive on their own. Lot's of fun.

So on Tuesday evening I traveled out to Orange County New York and spoke at the OC Dive Club. It was a cool talk on scuba diving in the St. Lawrence at 1000 Islands. Here is the link - http://scuba.meetup.com/179/calendar/8302408/ The crowd was very enthusiastic and really liked the presentation. I have fun doing this, diving and talking about diving. It reminds me of the good old days in the computer field when we would get together and talk about how much fun it is to work computers and create programs.

We spent the 4th of July weekend in Cape Ann. I went diving on the Day Breaker with Captain Fran and First Mate son Mathew. Great people who run the best charter I have been on. They are helpful extremely knowledgeable about the area and excellent divers. The First two dives on the 4th were scallop dives. Between the 6 of us, Aaron , Chris, Gregg, Sean and Heidi we pulled up 15 lbs of scallops (after shucking) and excellent haul of sweet tasting sea scallops.... :) On the 5th we dove in the morning, since it was a Saturday, we thought diving Saturday nights ledge would be a good start. 118feet through the trench, it was an excellent dive filled with an abondunce of life. The second dive on Saturday was into the tail section of the Chester Polling. I ducked down inside to have a quick look around. It is a fun wreck to dive on. In the afternoon we went up to Rockport it is a very quaint new England Fisihg village with lot's of shops. And yes we did some credit card damage..... :) On Sunday Morning we were up and at it again the water was very calm, the weather was warm and the was a fog surrounding the boat as we traveled to our dive destinations. We did our first dive on Burghnum ledge. Again a nice trench dive filled with life. Need a light on this one because it is dark down there. After surfacing we headed over to Half Way Rock. With the surrounding fog and quite still waters the trip over was a bit surreal. As we approached the rock, it slowly materialized out from the fog.... very cool. This place is filled with life all type's of creatures swiming and crawling on the rock. The dive is great you can stay at 20 feet or drop down to 80 feet plus. It was a great way to end this years 4th of July dive trip. And I must say while I meet some great friends to dive with in the future, I missed the dive buddies who I have been up there with in the past. I hope they can join us on the next trip. By for now, I'll be posting pictures soon. Tim

The diving pictures are from this years dives... so far.... The first set is from Key Largo. I dove with It's A Dive, they are located at Marriott Beach Resort on Key Largo. Fantastic people and fun to dive with. http- www.itsadive.com The second Dive is from Ft. Lauderdale. I went with Pro Dive, unfortunately my camera light did not work correctly so the pic's are not that great. The Third set, I went Ice Diving in Connecticut's Mt. Tom State Park. Lots of fun, a bit cold but also very cool. This was a training dive so the camera did not go into the water with me. I worked with the best training facility there is... Pan Aqua in Brookfield Ct. http- www.panaqua.com. Next time I'll take the camera under the ice. The last set is from my trip to Antigua. I dove with Jolly Dive http- www.jollydive.com. The people at Jolly Dive are the best, it was like diving with great friends. If you plan on diving this island they are the outfit to go with. I have a lot more photos that will be posted here as soon as I update the navigation to allow sub menus for each location. Ciao for now, Tim
